Dr.
James W. Swallow. Jay’s Christian name is James Walter Swallow and he is a Southern Cheyenne/Sioux.
He was introduced to a life of extreme hardship and poverty that was common to most of the members
of his tribe. In 1955 Jay joined the U. S. Navy and for the next five years he was to merge completely
into the mainstream of American life. In 1960 he was honorably discharged and had planned to return
to the Native tribal religion of his Cheyenne Culture but upon returning to Los Angeles Jay began
to see the work of God in operation. In 1961 Jay made a decision to work for God and began a lifetime
ministry that has reached Native Peoples throughout North and Central America with the Gospel. He
has been an instrumental advisor to 253 Native American Tribes, the host people of the North American
continent, in the United States and Canada. As a direct descendant of two notable Cheyenne Nation
Chiefs, Chief Black Kettle (Peace Chief) and Chief Little Bear (Military Chief), he is regarded as
one of the leading influential men of the Cheyenne Nation.
Dr. Swallow experienced first hand in his personal life the transforming power of God through repentance, forgiveness, and reconciliation as he met with 5 men at the memorial site of the Washita Massacre. God was able to break through years of deep wounding in his heart and transform him personally and equip him for the ministry and spiritual warfare that would follow in the years ahead.
Today many reservations, isolated geographically from the mainstream of city life are still pressing toward establishing churches in their part of the world. Jay saw the need to train leaders who could be a support to Pastors. These leaders could travel to remote areas and assist the pastors in their efforts to effectively reach their communities with the Gospel. In 1997, Jay first discussed combining his ministry vision with that of Negiel Bigpond, Pastor of Morning Star Evangelistic Center. They knew that by combining their visions they could reach more people. In 1998, Two Rivers Native American Training Center was formed and officially opened its doors. Two Rivers Training Center was founded and is administered by Native Americans training Native Americans to reach their tribes with the Gospel. He has been officially appointed as the Ambassador of the Cheyenne Tribe by the highest ranking official of the Cheyenne Tribe, The Sacred Arrowkeeper. Dr. Swallow has been recognized by governmental leaders receiving the Special Award of Recognition from the State of Alabama, Keys to the City of Montgomery, Alabama, and a participant with the Oklahoma Family Policy established by the Governor of the State of Oklahoma. He has held the positions of Director of the Cheyenne Housing Authority, Chairman of the Cheyenne Executive Committee, and Chairman of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Law and Order Committee. Dr. Swallow received his Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida. He has been honored to receive Honorary Citizenship in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Jay’s wife, Joan, has faithfully served in the ministry with him and together they are the parents of four children, thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

(OAPN), formerly the Oklahoma Concert of Prayer, (OCOP), an interdenominational \ organization comprised
of over 700 Christian churches and ministries and 4,000 intercessors based in Oklahoma, with members
throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico. OAPN is a statewide movement started in 1995
that God is using to bring unity to the Body of Christ with the goal of seeing the entire State
of Oklahoma, and the Home of the Red Man, saved and transformed. In 2006, he formed the Heartland
Apostolic Prayer Network, (HAPN), which currently includes 17 states. (Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas,

John serves as the First Vice President of Church on the Rock International, an apostolic network of over 6,0000 churches worldwide. He has been involved in various areas of counsel with Oklahoma state and city government officials and church leaders and is a Board Member and an observer for the University of Oklahoma Center for Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution Conference in Amman, Jordan, Jerusalem, Israel and Norman, Oklahoma, USA. After being adopted into the Cheyenne Tribe by Jay Swallow, Dr. Benefiel gained a deeper understanding of the atrocities committed against the Native American people. He has fervently worked to pass the Native American Resolution of Apology on both the national and state levels to bring healing to the First People Group and to our Nation.
