Mapping and Research for Kosciusko County, Indiana
Organized in April, 1836, Kosciusko County was named in honor of
Thaddeus Kosciuszko, a Polish Noble, who fought with George Washington
in the Revolutionary War.
Kosciuszko was born in Warsaw, Poland, thus suggesting the name of the
county seat of Kosciusko County.
Located in the county is Lake Wawasee, which is the largest natural lake
in the State covering approximately 3400 acres, and Lake Tippecanoe, the
deepest lake, at approximately 120 feet.
Evangelist Billy Sunday, once lived on Winona Lake. His home is now a
museum, displaying many of his personal belongings.
The county seat of Warsaw has been given the title of "Orthopedic
Manufacturing Capital of the World."
